Centre for the Arts Names New
Board Members and Officers
BOCA
RATON, FL (June 6, 2002)
The Centre for the Arts at
Mizner Park, Inc. has announced
the addition of four new members
to their board of directors
and the election of the new
officers. The announcement
was made by Wendy Larsen,
chairperson of the board.
Joining
the board are John Glover,
Marjorie Horwin, Rana Gorzeck
and Geri Murtagh. Elected
to office are Wendy Larsen
as chair, Yvonne Boice, vice
chair and Paul Carman, secretary/treasurer.
We
are proud to add these distinguished
citizens to our board of community-minded
individuals working toward
the goals of The Centre for
the Arts at Mizner Park,
said Larsen. As individuals,
each new member brings a specific
set of skills and abilities
to the board, but as a group,
they have already shown the
aggressive drive necessary
to advance our various projects
and work to enrich our community.
John
Glover is Vice President of
Bernstein Investment Research
and Management and is a past
board member of the Morikami
Museum and the Migrant Association
of South Florida. Marjorie
Horwin is a certified public
accountant with the firm Daszkal
Bolton, LLP. Rana Gorzeck
is an attorney with the firm
Buckingham, Doolittle &
Burroughs, LLP. Geri Murtagh
is chairperson of the Boca
Raton Florida Philharmonic
Board of Directors and a member
of their Governance Council.
Our
new members will be vital
in continuing the fundraising
efforts of The Centre as well
as providing direction concerning
arts programs, education and
awareness of the arts in South
Florida, commented Larsen.
The
Centre for the Arts at Mizner
Park is a not-for-profit organization,
dedicated to creating a cultural
heart for the entire South
Florida community, located
at Mizner Park in Boca Raton.
The Centre is currently developing
a three phase project on the
north end parcel of land at
Mizner Park, which when completed,
will include the Count de
Hoernle outdoor Amphitheater
and JM Family Enterprises
Arts Pavilion (Phase II) and
the indoor performing arts
hall and arts education building
(Phase III). The Boca Raton
Museum of Art (Phase I), located
to the west of the Count de
Hoernle Amphitheater, is constructed
and opened to the public in
January 2001.
Currently,
The Centre is constructing
Phase II of the project at
Mizner Park which is slated
for completion in October,
2002. Also included in the
$6 million second phase is
the construction of a landmark
tower, decorative fountain,
concert green and perimeter
2-tier colonnade available
for concert seating.
Unique
giving opportunities remain
for Phase II including prominent
naming opportunities at
the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater
and engraved
paver stones.
