Community Grand Opening for Count
de Hoernle Amphitheater
Boca
Raton, FL (October 16,
2002) - The Centre for the
Arts at Mizner Park is pleased
to announce the community
grand opening of the new state-of-the-art
Count de Hoernle Amphitheater
in Mizner Park. The event,
sponsored by Sun-Sentinel
and Countess de Hoernle, is
scheduled for Thursday, November
21, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. The
program will feature the Florida
Philharmonic Orchestra and
Chorus along with Broadway
celebrities, Mary DÕArcy and
Karl Jurman. The event is
free-to-the-public with self
parking available in Mizner
ParkÕs west-side garages (Garage
A & B).
Event
co-chairs, Yvonne S. Boice
and Pattie Damron, have been
planning and coordinating
the community grand opening.

Vice Chair of the CentreÕs
board. ÒThe up-beat and festive
program planned is just the
entertainment envisioned to
celebrate this historical
event and thank the community

Wendy U. Larsen, Chair of
the CentreÕs board added.
ÒWe felt strongly that the
first event to open the amphitheater
should be a community celebration,
free-to-the public, to showcase
this facility and thank the
community,Ó stated Pattie
Damron. A post-performance
backstage event for donors
and benefactors is also being
planned which will include
a meet and greet with the
orchestra and chorus while
enjoying a champagne and dessert
reception.
The
Florida Philharmonic Orchestra
is the largest performing
arts organization in the state
and the resident professional
orchestra of Miami-Dade, Broward,
and Palm Beach Counties. It
offers over 165 performances
each year, showcasing the
finest classical music and
some of the world's leading
guest artists. Broadway celebrity
guests, Mary DÕArcy, who has
sung on Broadway in Phantom
of the Opera, Sunday in the
Park and Singing in the Rain
and Karl Jurman, who has been
the Musical Conductor for
Lion King.
The
Centre for the Arts at Mizner
Park is a not-for-profit organization,
dedicated to creating a cultural
heart for the entire South
Florida community, located
at Mizner Park in Boca Raton.
The Centre is currently developing
a three phase project on the
north end parcel of land at
Mizner Park, which when completed,
will include the Count de
Hoernle outdoor Amphitheater
and JM Family Enterprises
Arts Pavilion (Phase II) and
the indoor performing arts
hall and arts education building
(Phase III). The Boca Raton
Museum of Art (Phase I), located
to the west of the Count de
Hoernle Amphitheater opened
to the public in January 2001.
Included in the $6 million
second phase is the construction
of a landmark tower, decorative
fountain, concert green and
a perimeter 2-tier colonnade
available for concert seating.
Unique
giving opportunities remain
for Phase II including prominent
naming opportunities at the
Count de Hoernle Amphitheater
and engraved paver stones.
