GRAMMY® AWARD WINNING VIOLINIST
JOSHUA BELL PERFORMED AT
CENTRE FOR THE ARTS AT MIZNER PARK FUNDRAISER
BOCA RATON, FL (May 24, 2005) – Joshua Bell, who has been captivating audiences around the world for 20 years, performed at “Romance of the Violin,” the exclusive Spring fundraising event for the Centre for the Arts in Mizner Park held on Friday, May 20th at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
“We were so thrilled to have Joshua Bell perform at our exclusive Spring fundraising event,” said Wendy U. Larsen, chair of the board of directors of the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park. “An artist of this magnitude in Boca Raton is very exciting.”
Sponsors for the Romance of the Violin event include the lead sponsor, Luxuria by The Trump Group; The Shoppes at Village Pointe; James and Marta Batmasian; Rutherford Mulhall, P.A; Siemon & Larsen, P.A.; JM Family Enterprises, Inc.; Marc and Ruti Bell; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Stolzer; Boca Raton Resort & Club; Steinway Piano Gallery of Boca Raton; Allyson von Holton of Designing Words; Tiffany & Company; Florida Atlantic University; Mrs. Keith Wold; Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Freed; Paul, Ellie and Leon Carman; Mr. and Mrs. James Hackett and George Brown. The funds raised at the “Romance of the Violin” fundraiser are used to expand classical and children’s programming at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater.
Patrons and attendees enjoyed a pre-event dinner-by-the-bite reception, Bell’s performance and a dessert reception with a meet and greet session and autograph signing with Joshua Bell.
Known for his poetic musicality, Joshua came to national attention at age 14 with his highly acclaimed orchestral debut with Riccardo Muti and the Philadelphia Orchestra. A Carnegie Hall debut, the Avery Fisher Career Grant and a recording contract further confirmed his unique presence in the music world. Now in his thirties, Joshua has performed with the world’s leading symphony orchestras and conductors, recorded 27 albums and participated in events foreign to most classical artists, earning him the rare title of classical music superstar. His recent recording, Romance of the Violin, features the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields conducted by Michael Stern. The album topped the Billboard classical charts and the repertoire was featured on the PBS special “Live from Lincoln Center: Joshua Bell at the Penthouse,” which will be released on DVD by Sony.
The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park is a not-for-profit organization that serves as the social, cultural and education center for residents of Boca Raton, Palm Beach County and Broward County, and all of South Florida. Located in Mizner Park, the Centre is currently developing a three-phase project on the north end parcel of land at Mizner Park, which when completed will include the Boca Raton Museum of Art (Phase I, completed January 2001), the Count de Hoernle (outdoor) Amphitheater (Phase II, completed November 2002) and the indoor performing arts hall and arts education building (Phase III). To date, the amphitheater has presented more than 115 programs, attracting 250,000-plus participants.
