“Boogie with Broadway” Gala
Announces Its Success

BOCA
RATON, Fla.(April 21, 2004) - The Centre for
the Arts at Mizner Park announced the success of its
second annual Gala, “Boogie with Broadway”
featuring Mary D’Arcy; Karl Jurman and The Leading
Ladies. D’Arcy has performed in Phantom of the
Opera and Jurman is the conductor for the Lion King
on Broadway in New York. “Boogie with Broadway”
was held on Saturday, April 3rd and marked the amphitheater’s
successful inaugural year which included offering over
60 events and performances resulting in attendance exceeding
150,000 people at the amphitheater. The event took place
on a wonderful full-moon evening in South Florida and
the money raised was designated to support the amphitheater’s
programming, development and operations. Gala supporters
enjoyed a pre-concert cocktail reception, the concert
and dinner on the amphitheater’s concert green.
A pre-concert jazz ensemble and concert orchestra were
provided by FAU’s Music Department. After the
concert, patrons were invited to boogie through the
decades on the dance floor to the wonderful sounds of
The Perri Rossi Orchestra lead by Boston Society Bandleader,
Perri Rossi.
Marta
Batmasian and Yvonne Boice served as the chairpersons
for the “Boogie with Broadway” Gala. Ms.
Batmasian and Ms. Boice are both members of the Centre
for the Arts Board of Directors. Honorary Chairs, noted
for assisting in the success of the amphitheater, were
Countess de Hoernle, Commissioner Mary McCarty, Madelyn
Savarick, Floss Keesely and Pat Moran.

Gala’s presenting sponsor was Madelyn Savarick.

The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park is a not-for-profit
organization, dedicated to creating a cultural heart
for the entire South Florida community, located at Mizner
Park in Boca Raton. The Centre is currently developing
a three phase project on the north end parcel of land
at Mizner Park, which when completed, will include the
Count de Hoernle outdoor Amphitheater (Phase II) which
opened to the public in November 2002 and the indoor
performing arts hall and arts education building (Phase
III). The Boca Raton Museum of Art (Phase I), located
to the west of the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater opened
to the public in January 2001.
