Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park
Announces 2004-05 Classical Concert Series

BOCA RATON, FL (September 28, 2004) – The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park will present the 2nd Annual Michael & Madelyn Savarick Classical Concert Series, a four-part classical music program at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater in Mizner Park. Madelyn Savarick, Centre for the Arts’ Board Member and local philanthropist, is the presenting sponsor of the 2004-05 series at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater. The series will be performed by the newly-formed resident orchestra, the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia. The Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia will be composed primarily of musicians who were former members of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will consist of a minimum of thirty (30) musicians with additional orchestra members added as required for specific programming.

The series will consist of four classical programs. The fourth and concluding concert of the series will be offered free to the public. The 2nd Annual Michael & Madelyn Savarick Classical Concert Series is outlined below:

  • November 6, 2004 at 7:00 pm -- “Mendelssohn Italian Symphony”
  • January 8, 2005 at 7:00 pm -- “Mozart to Cohan”
  • March 12, 2005 at 7:00 pm -- “International Selections”
  • April 2, 2005 at 7:00 pm -- “A Night in Vienna”

Each concert will feature a different guest conductor and a different featured soloist. Albert-George Schram, who conducted the last performance of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, will be conducting the first concert of the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia on November 6th.
Series subscription, individual and group tickets are available for purchase in person at the Amphitheater Box Office, by phone at 561-966-3309 and online at www.ticketmaster.com beginning Friday, September 3, 2005. We invite those who are attending the final concert in April to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and picnic dinners to enjoy the concluding concert of the series. Tickets are $30-$12 (plus applicable fees) and Patron Packages are available for $500 each.

“I am very passionate about providing classical music for the community to enjoy and want to support the efforts of the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia” stated Madelyn Savarick. “Classical music and music education were very important to my late husband, Michael, which is why this series is named in his honor” stated Savarick. Additional in-kind sponsors for the series include Steinway Piano Gallery of Boca Raton, for donating Steinway pianos for the performances and Allyson von Holton, for donating graphic design services for the series.

“We are delighted to have a classical music series at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater during the 2004-05 season and thank Madelyn Savarick for making that available for the community to enjoy” stated Wendy U. Larsen, Chair of the Centre’s Board of Directors.
