Elects New Board Members


BOCA RATON, FL (July 6, 2004) – The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park, Inc. has announced the addition of three new members to their Board of Directors. The announcement was made at the annual meeting by Wendy Larsen, Chairperson of the Board.

Isadore Friedman

Elected to the Board of Directors for a two-year term are Isadore Friedman, James D. Milby and Dr. Susan R. Pierce.

“We are proud to add these distinguished citizens to our Board of community-minded individuals working toward the goals of the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park,” said Larsen. “As individuals, each new member brings a specific set of skills and abilities to the Board, but as a group, they have already shown the aggressive drive necessary to advance our various projects and work to enrich our community.”

James Milby and Susan Pierce

Isadore “Issy” Friedman is the current President of the Board of Trustees for the Boca Raton Museum of Art and is an accomplished businessman and dedicated philanthropist. James Milby is the head of Citigroup’s Operations and Technology Unit and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Cincinnati Ballet. Dr. Susan Pierce is the Interim Vice President for the Boca Raton Community Hospital with responsibility for the Foundation and has served on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Symphony; the Tulsa Opera and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City. Additionally, the following Directors were renewed for another two year term on the Board of Directors - Bart S. Bishop; Christine Coyle; Allison Garcia; Rana M. Gorzeck; Byron A. Meads; Charles L. Siemon and Gregory K. Talbott.

“Our new members will be vital in continuing the fundraising efforts of The Centre as well as providing direction concerning arts programs, education and awareness of the arts in South Florida,” commented Larsen.

The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to creating a cultural heart for the entire South Florida community, located at Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The Centre is currently developing a three phase project on the north end parcel of land at Mizner Park, which when completed, will include the Count de Hoernle outdoor Amphitheater (Phase II) which opened to the public in November 2002 and the indoor performing arts hall and arts education building (Phase III). The Boca Raton Museum of Art (Phase I), located to the west of the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater opened to the public in January 2001.
