CHART-TOPPING OPERA BAND AMICI FOREVER
TO HEADLINE 2ND ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF CENTRE FOR THE ARTS AT MIZNER PARK
BOCA RATON, FL (October 10, 2004) -- Amici Forever, the world’s first opera band with an album at the top of the classical charts, will be headlining “Anniversary with Amici,” the second anniversary celebration of the Centre for the Arts in Mizner Park, on Thursday, December 2, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater.
Amici Forever, which has drawn raves from critics worldwide, is coming off a highly successful New Zealand tour, where it was awarded double platinum discs for its first album, The Opera Band, last month.
“We’re thrilled to be having Amici Forever for an exclusive performance,” said Mark W. Glickman, executive director of the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park. “The timing couldn’t be better with their CD currently at the top of the classical charts.”
Tickets to attend the performance only are $35 and $20. Exclusive patron tickets are $250 each, including a 6:00 p.m. pre-event dinner at the Boca Raton Museum of Art and a post-event backstage dessert reception. Group discounts are available. Business attire is suggested.
Sponsors for the Anniversary with Amici Second Anniversary Celebration include ING Clarion and ING Real Estate, Kaufman Lynn General Contractors, Publix Supermarkets Charities, Legal Sea Foods, The Meridian at One North Ocean and Steinway Piano Gallery.
Amici Forever is comprised of five young classically-trained opera singers from around the globe who have joined forces and voices to form the world’s first opera band. Amici Forever is a unique musical blend of contemporary pop and traditional opera. With a visual appeal to match their musical ability, the group has already captured the imagination of millions. The group has also appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “Fox and Friends.”
Amici forever comprises Jo Appleby – Soprano, from England; Tsakane Valentine - Soprano, from South Africa; Geoff Sewell – Tenor, from New Zealand; David Habbin – Tenor, from England; and Nick Garrett - Bass Baritone, also from England.
The singers became close friends while training and performing in operas at many of the world’s greatest venues. In early 2003, they were signed to Arista Associated Labels by its General Manager, David Weyner, and have created a unique sound and image for the band: never before have five mixed voices been brought together to produce such electrifying harmonies. .
The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park is a not-for-profit organization that serves as the social, cultural and education center for residents of Boca Raton, Palm Beach County and Broward County, and all of South Florida. The Centre is dedicated to providing improved venues and cooperative programming for exhibitions of art, music, dance, theater, film and other cultural endeavors.
Located in Mizner Park, the Centre is currently developing a three-phase project on the north end parcel of land at Mizner Park, which when completed will include the Boca Raton Museum of Art (Phase I, completed January 2001), the Count de Hoernle (outdoor) Amphitheater (Phase II, completed November 2002) and the indoor performing arts hall and arts education building (Phase III). To date, the amphitheater has presented more than 115 programs, attracting 250,000-plus participants.
