2ND ANNUAL MICHAEL & MADELYN SAVARICK
CLASSICAL CONCERT SERIES TO FEATURE
'A NIGHT IN VIENNA' ON APRIL 2, 2005

BOCA RATON, FL (March 23, 2005) – The 2nd Annual Michael & Madelyn Savarick Classical Concert Series of the Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park will feature “A Night in Vienna” on April 2, 2005, 7:00 p.m., at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater at Mizner Park in Boca Raton.

This concert is being co-produced by Madelyn Savarick and the Countess de Hoernle. Madelyn has dedicated the concert in honor of the Countess, in recognition of all that she has done for our community. It will be the final performance in a series of four concerts being performed by the newly-formed resident orchestra, the Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphonia, composed primarily of musicians who were former members of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra. The guest conductor will be Wendell Simmons, music director of the Youth Orchestra of Palm Beach County and the director of orchestras at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School of the Arts. The violin soloist will be Shunsuke Sato, who made his debut as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra when he was 10, and has since appeared frequently with major orchestras across the globe. The vocal soloist, Nadine Sierra, is a 16-year-old student at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos, Jr. School of the Arts, has performed with several South Florida performing arts organizations and has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships.

Selections will include Mozart’s “Violin Concerto No. 5, in A Major,” Lehar’s “Vilya, Oh Vilya” from The Merry Widow, Kreisler’s “Liebesleid, Liebesfreud and Caprice Viennois,” Strauss Jr.’s “Die Fledermaus Overture,” “Weiner Blut,” “Eljin a Magyar Polka; Bandit Gallop; Thunder and Lighting Polka” and “The Blue Danube.”

Simmons has been a violinist with the Philly Pops, Mozart Orchestra of Philadelphia, Delaware Symphony, Colorado Philharmonic, and the Miami City Ballet orchestras, and served as assistant concertmaster of the Virginia Opera Orchestra, among others. He was guest conductor of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra for Community Tours concerts in two concert seasons and has conducted many high school honors orchestras.

Madelyn Savarick, Centre for the Arts’ board member and local philanthropist, is the presenting sponsor of the four-part classical music program at the Count de Hoernle Amphitheater. The orchestra will consist of a minimum of thirty (30) musicians with additional orchestra members added as required for specific programming. Each concert features a different guest conductor and a different featured soloist.

The Centre for the Arts at Mizner Park is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating a cultural heart for the entire South Florida community. Located in Mizner Park, the Centre is currently developing a three-phase project on the north end parcel of land at Mizner Park, which when completed will include the Boca Raton Museum of Art (Phase I, completed January 2001), the Count de Hoernle (outdoor) Amphitheater (Phase II, completed November 2002) and the indoor performing arts hall and arts education building (Phase III). To date, the amphitheater has presented more than 100 programs, attracting 250,000-plus participants.
